Suggested Itinerary
|

Our primary aim is to provide you with a relaxing haven. This may be a sanctuary away from hectic modern life or a period of relaxation following a long safari or overseas flight.

The environment at Paperbark Bush Retreat immediately induces peace, although it can sometimes take time for the spirit to unwind. We therefore tailor our operation to meet your schedule. However, we know from our own experience that it is often helpful to be able to refer to a sample itinerary as a guide. We recommend a stay of between four and seven days, sufficient to relax, kick back and enjoy all the Estate has to offer.
For those who wish to extend their stay and combine it with a big five safari, we are able to offer this service in partnership with our sister company Back on Track Safari |

Day 1
Arrival by Air
For those international guests who arrive by air, we recommend pick-up at the airport by our Staff. What could be better than to be met on arrival and whisked away to the tranquillity of the Paperbark Bush Retreat?

Arrival by self-drive or tour
To assist our self-drive visitors, we provide a "meet and greet" service, where guests are met at the Leutla Conservancy gates by a Ranger to assist in access to the Estate (4 x 4 or similar vehicle recommended). We will provide all of your transportation needs during your stay and can arrange for car hire drop-off and/or pick-up to suit your travel plans.

Whichever route you choose, we will look forward to welcoming you with a refreshing drink or afternoon tea on the lawn. In the evening, relax with an aperitif and enjoy the enchanting ambiance of an African sunset before dinner.

Day 2
A leisurely breakfast can be followed by a light morning stroll along the Estate footpaths, escorted by one of our Rangers, taking in the rivers, streams and waterfalls. Afternoon at leisure before sundowners taken in the bush watching the sun set behind Leutla Mountain. Then transport back to the Main Lodge for dinner under the African sky.

Day 3
For the more energetic, perhaps an early morning walk before breakfast. During the morning, we offer an informal bush and tracking expedition course. This has proved very popular, especially with those who wish to sharpen their bush senses prior to game viewing. Lunch is followed by an afternoon at leisure and late afternoon sighting of camera traps before dinner.

Day 4
Breakfast prior to retrieval of camera traps by vehicle and return to the Main Lodge for lunch and review of images. Afternoon at leisure, relaxing, perhaps take a dip in our swimming hole or enhjoy the water falls. Early evening dinner follwed by a night drive.

Day 5
Breakfast, and then perhaps visit a near by Game Reserve or alternatively join our staff in their work with the Ingwe Leopard Project, returning to the Lodge for dinner.

Day 6
Leisurely breakfast, followed by a morning leopard tracking and monitoring followed by lunch. Perhaps an afternoon visit to the local heritage centre. Return to the Lodge for sundowners and dinner, followed by a night drive.

Day 7
